Three R Program of Charity

Raise up a child in the way he should go and when he grows old, he will not stray from it.
Proverbs 22:6

In order to be accepted to Blessed Sacrament, families have to agree to abide by the covenants of the Catholic Three R Program (respect, reverence, responsibility). At Blessed Sacrament, this program is called the Program of Charity. Before entering Blessed Sacrament School (and at the beginning of each school year), parents, students, teachers, and all other staff sign covenants pledging to abide by the Diocesan Three R criteria. The covenants cover behavior, conflict resolution procedures, service time donated, and faith commitments. Everyone must make a good faith effort to live up to the annual pledge.

The Three R Program of Charity starts with a workshop for each family (new families will be informed in the beginning of each year of a first-year workshop sometime in October). In subsequent years, teachers, parents, and students try to live up to the spirit of the program and the covenants that were adopted by mutual decisions. Educational opportunities need to be made available on a yearly basis to promote personal and community growth. These will be announced as they are scheduled. The program relies on Church teachings which emphasize individual dignity in the midst of a society that models to children selfishness and the objectification of the person.
