My name is Katie Leiker, and I am enjoying teaching here at Blessed Sacrament.  I graduated from Newman University in 2003, and I was lucky enough to be hired on as one of the Fifth Grade teachers for my first teaching job.

As a former student at Blessed Sacrament, teaching here has enabled me to get to know this school from many different sides.  As a teacher, I enjoy watching my students grow during their very pivotal fifth grade year in school.  At the fifth grade level, our students look forward to participating in alter serving, school patrol, and preparing for Middle School.

Fifth grade is also a different year, because our classroom is not entirely self contained.  My partner teacher, Kathy West, and I trade off teaching particular subjects.  I get to teach all of the Math and Science to both classes, while Mrs. West teaches all of the Language Arts.  We each teach Social Studies, Religion, and Spelling to our home rooms.

I love teaching at Blessed Sacrament because of its well rounded environment.  The faculty and staff that work here care about the students, and it is truly a joy and a blessing to be a member of the Blessed Sacrament Faculty.
