CHALLENGE offers an integral formation, focusing on the girls’ spiritual, social, intellectual and apostolic talents, to transform society based on Catholic principles through their leadership. The formation is carried out in weekly meetings focused on gospel reflections and apostolic campaigns that are reinforced through talks, workshops, retreats, camps, and many other fun and exciting activities. Junior High CYO Scripture Study Contact: Mary Fisher, 682-4557 Mission: To build and form disciples who know, love, and serve Jesus Christ through the study Holy Scripture, prayer and Adoration, and who support the Church through service as a way of communicating the truth of love. The Junior High CYO Scripture Study group is an organization sponsored by the School and the Parish. It is open to 7th and 8th grade youth who attend Blessed Sacrament School. The primary purpose of this group is to study scripture shared in Mass each week based on the liturgical year. The associate pastor and parents assist youth in applying the readings to daily life, building their knowledge of the sacraments, increasing their relationship with Christ, and further developing youth as disciples of Christ. The Scripture Group meets each week, according to the school schedule, from 7:05 to 7:45 a.m. in Bishop’s Hall. Donuts and juice are provided. The Men’s Club graciously provides funds for youth and advisors to receive a Catholic Youth Study Bible. Click here Mission: Kids for Jesus (K4J) is a program designed to build up the Kingdom of Christ by helping children ages 3 through 4th grade develop strong and personal friendships with Jesus Christ, understand and live out their baptismal commitments as Catholic Christians, and take active roles in the new evangelization. K4J Captains is a program for 5th through 8th graders to help develop virtuous young leaders in the Church through service in helping with the monthly K4J Missions. The Kids for Jesus (K4J) group typically meets on the second Sunday of each month from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. Children participate in activities (including a snack) designed to help them fulfill their monthly mission that is explained in the K4J Mission Pack. The K4J Mission Pack includes a catechetical lesson, a monthly virtue that animates the monthly mission, a tabletop mission card to chart their progress, a Holy Hero trading card, and a newsletter for parents. Inquire with the K4J contacts about joining K4J. K4J Captains usually meet one week prior to the K4J Mission to prepare for it and for fun and fellowship. K4J Captains belong to one of the following squads based on individual interests and preferences: Décor Squad, Mission Squad, Skit Squad, and Spirit Squad. Totus Tuus Contact: Totus Tuus Director: Marie Poland, cell: 390-5531 Mission: To give opportunity for early elementary children to learn about God and grow in their faith. To inspire adolescents and teens with a true longing for holiness, a deep desire for conversion, and personal renewal within the context of an ever-deepening prayer life. Totus Tuus is a weeklong vacation bible school and catechism program held every summer at Blessed Sacrament School. Along with catechesis, the program incorporates songs, games, and crafts. Snacks are provided. There are two age groups included in the program: A small fee is charged. The weekly bulletin will notify parishioners of details and registration as summer approaches. Many volunteers are needed to carry out this program. Middle school and high school students and adults are encouraged to volunteer. |
