Our Mission
The Mission of Blessed Sacrament Parish is to continue the work of the Good Shepherd, who came to serve and not to be served, and who did not hesitate to lay down His life for the sheep. Christ is the eternal Prophet, Priest and King. As members of Christ’s Mystical Body, we commit ourselves to carry on His mission of teaching, sanctifying and governing the People of God. Each member of the parish is called to witness, ministry and fellowship. Comprising the “little flock” within the fold of our loving Mother Church, we join in the encompassing mission of the Church Universal of bringing all people to full union with Christ.

Our Driving Force 
Through the Eucharistic celebration, we are charged with building the Kingdom of God by loving God and neighbor.

EXPLANATION

“Through the Eucharistic celebration…” 
We are a Eucharistic community, a people of the New Covenant established through the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. The celebration of the Eucharist is the center of the entire Christian life, both for the Church universal and for our local parish. “The other sacraments, all the ministries of the Church, and the works of the apostolate are united with the Eucharist and are directed toward it. For the holy Eucharist contains the entire spiritual treasure of the Church, that is, Christ Himself, our Passover and living bread. Through His flesh, made living and life-giving by the Holy Spirit, He offers life to men, who are thus invited and led to offer themselves, their work and all creation together with Him.” (Second Vatican Council, Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, n.55)

“We are charged with building the Kingdom of God…”
Our Lord gave His followers the sacred command to “go, make disciples of all nations.” In our participation in the Eucharist, we are sent to invite others to become members of our Eucharistic community. We are charged by our Lord to be witnesses of His Gospel in every dimension of our life. Not only are we concerned with spreading the faith to those who do not already possess it, but we are also to affirm, confirm and encourage one another in the Faith. In doing these things we participate in building the Kingdom of God here on earth.

“By loving God and neighbor.”
Just as the Ten Commandments served as the precepts of the old covenant by which the people of Israel were to abide, Jesus gave the people of His New Covenant the precept to love God and neighbor. We remain faithful to Jesus in observing our duty to worship God and by helping those in need. For the people of the new covenant, it is impossible to love God without having a love that also reaches our neighbor.
